This antique desk has been robustly handmade, possibly from India and dates from as early as the last part of the 19th century to the early part of the 20th century and has all the characteristics of having come from an old ship. The top is not completely flat but smooth, around the tops back and halfway along the sides edge is a 50mm high solid retaining gallery which reduces down to 10mm at the front edge. At the front corners of the top are openings these are to remove any spilt liquids can be removed easily.
The desk has a small cupboard on the left side and a second in knee hole opening, on the right side is a false cupboard door which hides two drawers with inset brass handles. There is also a small brass coat hook to the right of the knee hole.
The overall condition is very good but there is signs of age related wear and usage to the top.
